Founded in 2005 and headquartered in San Diego, eMolecules provides access to over 83 million specialty compounds using innovative digital solutions. With site locations in Zoetermeer (Netherlands) and Cumberland (USA), the company delivers integrated services such as compound procurement, storage, reformatting, and synthesis. Acquired in 2023, the Zoetermeer site, formerly known as Specs, extends the company's expertise in traditional small molecule drug discovery. eMolecules collaborates with the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic, CRO, and agrochemical sectors to remove inefficiencies in chemical compound sourcing and accelerate ground breaking discoveries.

As Controller you will be responsible for the execution of the financial strategy as laid out by the CFO and further professionalization of our financial organization in the Netherlands.

You will lead the Finance team and work closely with the CFO of eMolecules.

You will be a strong business partner for the board and management team: you will translate figures into strategic insights, set priorities, provide structure, and manage for results. At the same time, you will be the driving force behind the transformation of Finance into a digital, data-driven, and scalable department.

What will you do?

• Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cost accosting/inventory and taxes
• Develop and manage the monthly accounting close processes for the division
• Prepare, review and analyse the division financial statements to ensure accuracy
• Establish Division KPI’s and perform analysis to develop protocols that enhance productivity, support company goals, and increase profitability.
• Establish, monitor and enforce policies, procedures and internal controls to minimize the risk of financial reporting errors and to safeguard the company assets.
• Enhance NetSuiteERP system to ensure accurate accounting ledgers and improve efficiency
• Lead the Division annual budgeting and periodic financial forecasting processes.
• Manage and prepare supporting schedules for preparation of Sales, VAT and Income tax filings
• Collaborate with other department managers and other division personnel to support the goals and objectives of the Company.
• Strategic partner for CFO, providing support and ad-hoc analysis
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Your profile:

You are a driven and results-oriented financial leader who focuses on growth, structure, and performance. You have the analytical skills to provide direction and the leadership to engage others.

You also bring:

• Dutch speaker (at least on B2 level) and full business proficiency in English
• Bachelor’s degree, in Accounting or related field.
• CPA or Chartered accountant in local country
• 7+ years of related experience in a similar financial management role, preferably in an international environment;
• Experience with corporate taxes and financial audits
• Professionalism and ability to communicate well at any level
• Proven record of meeting deadlines and job requirements
• European VAT experience is a plus
• Ability and willingness to work outside European office hours (due to time difference USA Headquarters)
• Full-time availability (40 hours) is required.
• A recent (not older than 3 months Certificate of Conduct).
