Research & Development Intern – Technip Energies – Zoetermeer

Technip Energies

Product Development Intern

Are you interested in becoming part of a talented team of energy game-changers? Together, we’re taking on the biggest challenge of all: accelerating the global energy transition by creating new solutions that will engineer a sustainable future. We are looking for a product development intern to embark on this unique journey with us. Start your career; learn, grow, and help us positively impact the future of the energy industry here.

About the Internship

We are envisioning a transformative Digital Twin platform capable of providing real-time insights into complex industrial systems’ behaviour, facilitating predictive maintenance, and optimizing operations for tube-based heat transfer systems. We are therefore currently seeking an intern, who will be supervised by experts to join our Product Development team based in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands. As a Product Development intern, you will have an active role within the Department. You will gain a deep knowledge in process technologies and process energy efficiency in hydrogen and syngas production, olefins production. You will also learn how development projects in an international engineering and technology company are apprehended and will help us develop solutions to address energy transition market needs.

We in TEN-NL observe that a hybrid CFD-ML framework is essential for the development of Digital Twin platforms that can help us forecast fluid behaviour in unexplored territories. You will perform a study whose purpose is to integrate Machine Learning (ML) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation to predict the intermediate states of fluid beyond direct simulation capabilities. You will conduct CFD simulations to replicate fluid behaviour and enable a comprehensive study of heat exchange dynamics within the tube. You will also analyse fluid velocity profiles and thermal patterns to lay the groundwork for accurate heat transfer predictions. You will explore both laminar and transient flow regimes to gain insights into diverse operational scenarios and facilitate a thorough understanding of heat transfer phenomena within the tube. After this, you will help us augment CFD simulations with ML algorithms to extrapolate and interpolate data, enabling the prediction of nuanced states between simulated points. Once we are able to bridge the gaps between simulated data points to enhance heat transfer modelling, we can lay the foundation for future Digital Twin systems. You will then deliver a written report and a presentation to the stakeholders with results, conclusions, and suggestions.

We offer you not only an internship, but an inspiring journey in a truly global environment where you team up to break down boundaries thanks to the innovation, creativity and pioneering spirit which drives our people.
